HIFU stands for High Intensity Focused Ultrasound and is a truly remarkable breakthrough in modern skin care technology. The technology is unique in its ability to penetrate the deeper layers of the skin and the superficial muscles without the need for surgery.
During the facial, high level sound wave technology is used to penetrate deep below the surface of the skin promoting cellular renewal and repair, toning muscles, increasing blood circulation and lymphatic drainage, combatting puffiness and improving skin care product penetration.
The science behind it:
HIFU safely uses multiple beams of ultrasound energy which are focused together in the deeper layers of the skin. The sound waves produced by the machine resonate well above our hearing level and move too quickly for our nerve endings to register. Individually, these beams do not have any effect, however, where these beams converge in the supportinglayers, a point of thermal energy is created which heats the tissue below the surface causing it to contract and tighten whilst encouraging the growth of new collagen fibres in the tissue. When ultrasound enters the body it is absorbed by muscle, tendons and bone. All of these play a role in the eventual temperature rise in the surrounding tissue which in turn dramatically increases needed oxygen to the cells and aids in the removal of waste products. This antibacterial cleansing action also helps prevent the onset of acne and blemishes and the skin is left feeling instantly energised, rosy, firm, refreshed and noticeably softer.
The process is safe, painless and gentle and can even be used by sensitive skin types such as those with Rosacea. It helps to improve the skin tone and all the features of the face making it a viable option to Botox without the loss of facial expression.
